The Word of God

2 Kings 22:8-11 Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the secretary, “I have found the Book of the Law in the temple of the LORD.” He gave it to Shaphan, who read it. . . . 10 Then Shaphan the secretary informed the king, “Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king. 11 When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his robes.

WOW!  Let us talk about what is going on here.  Josiah is made to be the king of Judah at the age of eight.  The kings before him followed other gods, sacrificed their children in fire to worship gods, some dismantled and destroyed the temple of God and committed many acts of evil before God. When Josiah turned approximately eighteen years old he sent his Scribe or Secretary to The House of The Lord to which he was having renovated.  When the Scribe arrived, the High Priest says to him that he has FOUND the Book of The Law.  This means that the High Priest was operating the House of God, WITHOUT THE WORD OF GOD!

The Leader of God at the Temple, God’s People and a Nation were having a form of Godliness, but it was not based on what God says.  The High Priest did not know how to VALUE what he had found, for the High Priest just gives the Scribe the Book of the Law to take with him!  Even when the Scribe, Shaphan, is telling King Josiah about it, he simply says,

“Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.”  He did not even know what he was carrying in his hands; he only knew it to be an ordinary book!

When The Word was read from the Book of The Law to King Josiah, he saw how FAR HE AND HIS COUNTRY had moved from God and in repentance he tore his clothes.  The leaders of this time did not even know WHERE The Word of God was!  The Nation followed in their own ways, not the Ways of The Lord or His Word.  But when King Josiah heard God’s Word, he immediately started making changes in himself, his Kingdom and in The Temple of God.

So, where is yours?  Where is your Bible?  Is it just a book to you or can you not go a day without reading it and IT READING YOU?  Let me encourage you today, The Bible can TOTALLY CHANGE YOUR LIFE!  Begin reading it today, even if it is just one verse a day.  Read that verse out loud so that you can hear it with your own ears, for faith comes by hearing.  And chew and ponder on that verse all day and let God and His Word penetrate you inside, and out!  Be like King Josiah, value and treasure what God says and is saying to you.  And when you hear and see from The Word of God things you need to change, just change it, like King Josiah did for himself, his family and his Nation!

God wants to tell you some amazing things and He wants to tell you that He Loves You with all that is in Him!  Get your Bible out, read WHO YOU ARE!  Discover WHO GOD IS!  Allow Him to take you on the most exciting journey of your life with Him!  Then you can say like Hilkiah . . . I Have Found The Book!

Keep Getting Ready, Jesus Is Coming!
