Prayer and Support-Raising Letter                                                                                         July 1, 2017

Dear,

Recently, I made a decision to go on a short-term missions trip with Cross-Cultural Solutions (CCS). I’m excited about the opportunity God is giving me to share the love of Jesus in Greece and I’m writing to tell you more about it and how you can be involved. “Why Greece?” you might ask.  “Aren’t they already reached?” An estimated 11 million Syrians have fled their homes since the outbreak of the civil war in March 2011. Since  the Balkan route from Greece to northern Europe was shut down in March  after the arrival of a million migrants and refugees, around 57,000  people have been stranded in Greece. In response to this humanitarian  crisis, Cross-Cultural Solutions is operating a refugee volunteer  program starting in 2017 to support

vulnerable children, women, and  residents of camps in Greece. OK, here are some details for you.  I will be going to Chalkida, North of Athens at Ritsona Refugee Camp in Greee, to take up volunteering work in the Child-Friendly space,  Female-Friendly space, and the Youth Engagement Program.

During the camp we will;

  1. 1. Work with Refugee Children
  2. Support Vulnerable Women
  3. Advocate for Refugees
  4. Build Refugee Camp Infrastructure.

Refugee Support Volunteer Program. The majority of refugee families in Greece now live in one of 40+ ‘temporary’ camps. Each camp is different, with accommodations in tents or containers, and only some providing heat, hot water, and electricity. However, most, if not all camps, lack the adequate basic standard of living that every human deserves. The camps CCS work with are

situated 50 minutes north of Athens, and each houses approximately 800 residents, including 400 children (with approximately 40 still being breast/bottle fed) and around 20 women who

are pregnant. One of the challenges in the camps is simply a lack of activities and purpose for the residents. Children are keen to talk, play & learn, while adults are looking for ways to

engage with their peers. The future is uncertain for these families and restoring dignity & purpose in their daily lives is an important goal of this program. Bringing a sense of normalcy and routine in a chaotic and foreign environment is so valuable.

My camp volunteering work will last for three (3) months and I’ll be in Greece October 07-December 30. I am going to need lots of prayers for this trip. Prayer is really the key to successful ministry and this is no exception, as I prepare for the challenges ahead of me:  living in a new and different culture, communicating through a language barrier, and constantly giving of myself in service.  Please, pray that I will have God’s strength and that my life will show the personal relationship I have with Christ..  The team needs your prayers too to be united and to

always be focusing on God no matter what happens,  to stay looking to God and that God will be able to shine through us to show the people what Christ can do for us.

More also, I will need financial support.  More missionary volunteers are needed in Greece Camps.  People are hungry for the truth, for love and for hope. “How then can they call on the one they have not believed in?  And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?  And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?  And how can they preach unless they are sent?  As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring Good News!” (Romans 10:14-15).

My trip will cost about $10,350 (ten thousand three hundred and fifty us dollars), and I am trusting God to supply for His work.  This will cover my air-ticket $1585 plus airline ticket (ticket price estimates are $900 – $1400/winter, $1200 – $1500/summer), registration/support, transportation, training, logistics, and my living expenses for the period of the trip.  I know you may not be able to help financially, but your prayer is just as important.  If you are able to give financial support or are willing to pray for my ministry trip this summer, please complete the enclosed form and return before August 07.

In closing, I am anticipating the growth of my faith as I trust God to supply for my financial needs of $10,350. If you would like to help in support for this ministry, Wepay will handle my support funds.

All gifts are tax-deductible and a receipt will be given.

I would like to say thank you for reading this letter and for considering my needs for prayer and financial support. Please contact me, if you have any questions.  I am extremely excited about

this volunteering ministry trip and hope you can share in my excitement.
