Message of Hope: Are You Struggling With Being Faithful?

Are You Struggling With Being Faithfull“Go tell my disciples, and Peter, I am risen.” He singles Peter out; makes special mention of him; calls him by name. Why? Peter had just denied Him three times, was feeling utterly worthless, completely rejected, a total failure. Peter had given up on himself. Jesus would never give up on him.

Do you sometimes feel like a failure, that God must be angry with you and probably wants to have nothing to do with you again because you let Him down? Do you condemn yourself and feel useless and unworthy because you have not been faithful? Then you understand exactly what Peter was thinking and feeling, and why Jesus gave him such special attention.

Child of God, God does not love you because you are good. He makes you good because He loves you. That’s why your failures do not disqualify you. They do not cause Jesus to reject you. In fact, if they do anything at all, they cause Him to grieve for you and draw closer to you to bring you out of the situation you’ve placed yourself in.

That is what He did for Peter. Instead of condemning him for his failure, He drew Peter closer in order to reveal to him how much He loved him. Peter’s love for Jesus may have failed, but Jesus’ love for Peter remained as strong as ever.

Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. (Romans 8:33ff NKJV)

What happened to Peter afterwards? This weak, undependable man became a pillar in the church, a powerful Apostle of Jesus Christ, a writer of two of the books in the Bible, and a martyr for Christ. He started off a failure and ended up more than a conqueror. What a testimony to the power of Jesus’ love!

Are you struggling with being faithful today? Consider the outcome of Jesus’ dealings with Peter and be encouraged. Know that what the Lord did in Peter’s life, He will do for you. When we are faithless, He remains faithful!

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. (I Thessalonians 5:23, 24 NKJV)
Blessings,
